Even if things are not feeling as you would like them to, the practice of journaling will help to open up your awareness to the wonder that is your super cool, amazing life!

Reading other's grats is also very inspiring.

I really like this idea and I'm going to try to keep a gratitude journal, at least for the duration of hoop boot camp, if not for longer!!

Today I am grateful for:

- the warm weather
- not getting rained on too heavily
- getting work for this week
- kind and supportive emails from friends
- going for a walk on a warm summer's night
- getting started on 2 writing projects
- starting the day off with a smoothie

Thank you!!!

Have always loved the idea of a gratitude journal. Glad that you are encouraging this. :)

I'll do last nights:

*perfect summer evening weather for a workout
*new hooping music to inspire new movement
*a loving partner in crime, and life (hubby)
*the fun of being almost the only people in the movie theater
*fresh veggies on the grill
*clear skies and stars

Today I am grateful for...

the unlimited choices I have in my life

summer school being officially half over, one and a half weeks left

having tummy morsels for breakfast but feeling ok about giving them up for hoop boot camp

staying connected on rush hour trains

feeling good about my decisions

making future plans that include travel and celebration

morning hugs

salt water gargles that sooth my barely audible voice

creative projects with kids

Thank you!

I've never kept a gratitude journal before. Maybe focusing on the things I am thankful for will lead me out of the bleakness I have been feeling lately. Or it could make me even more cynical than I already am. But I'll give it a shot.

Here is today's gratitude:

* Book at my bedside that I hadn't read yet
* Lifestyle that allows me to lie in bed all day and read a book
* Tod, who provides that lifestyle
* Variegated grey clouds in the breezy sky
* Melissa for promoting Spin Matsuri in Metropolis in September

Yesterday I was grateful for:

* My ruler, bowl, and painting materials for making a World Hoop Day banner
* Ashley & Luke for letting me come swim with them
* Shinjuku Sports Center swimming pool for allowing tattoo'd swimmers
* Farmer's stand full of interesting vegetables
* Tod for getting me ice cream when I cried

D and I talked about this tonight, but there seems to be something in the air at the moment. Yesterday I was feeling so frustrated/down in the dumps/lethargic, and having the task of thinking of things I was grateful for helped me to refocus some of that negativity. Today, in the middle of the day, I started making my list and there was something really reassuring about knowing that it wasn't finished yet and I would continue to add more things to it as the day went on. I'm really curious to see the long-term effects of embarking on this project.

Today I am grateful for:

*making progress on a writing assignment
*getting the go-ahead for a new article in Metropolis
*getting off my bootay and hooping
*chatting with D and letting off steam
*the postcard from my friend Marian inviting me to her wedding
*walking outside from the station to my place (I just love that walk)
*no rain, again (yay!)
*no cockroach sightings (yet)

Thank you!!!

I really love the idea of a gratitude journal... it might help me to remember the little things in life!
I'm grateful for:
~ cooler weather (Texas is scorching right now)
~ Rebecca for loving me and forcing me to take care of myself
~ the ability to hoop, both as a way to exercise and the chance it gives me to clear my mind
~ the laughter of children
~ spending time with my "family"

It's a gorgeous day so that makes it easier to be grateful for so many things...

- Melissa for her inspiration and sharing her feelings

- preparing for kids shows and hugging my own inner child in the process

- goddess workshops on the beach

- packing a bag full of goodies for a beach party this weekend

- painting drawing coloring reading dr Seuss

- spine tingling muscle shifting massages putting me asleep and waking me up thanks to Masao

- strengthening my muscles with each hoop up

- playing and planning

- missing Steph but knowing we will be together again and that she is having a cool time

- the space and time to prepare the hoop boot camp program

- creative expression

So many things to love

Thank you!!

xx

I am so, so grateful for the rain that is coming down right now. Austin is in a drought so severe that they're considering creating a new category ABOVE "severe" for it.

I'm grateful for my health and strength.

I'm grateful for my sweet, supportive wife, who puts up with a great deal of hoopcraziness (bet you didn't anticipate all this when you gave me that first hoop!).

And I'm grateful for my packed lunch, 'cause I'm going to be hungry, and if it was good last night, it's going to be even better today!

I've decided to keep my journal on in a book so I can honor the things I'm thankful for with a little drawing or doodle instead of simply listing them. As I finish a page, I will post a photo of it for you all to see.
