June Hoop Happenings

Hi amazing Hoop Lovers! Thank you so much to you all for your feedback, questions and support. It always helps when constructing the monthly schedules and working to provide hoop dance and movement workshops in Tokyo that cater to a diverse group of creative and hard working individuals! Thank you!
This month is a really busy one, in all the right ways. Join me in a personal challenge to increase balance, flexibility and range of movement. Do you know the best way to do all of that? Move more!! It is as simple as that. So let's do it together, it's fun and does wonders physically and mentally! Our bodies are so amazing and capable of such rapid change and healing, when we give them the right signals. Let's move it!
Class：Dance! Move! Play! Workshop
SIZZLING SEQUENCES (Beginner's to Intermediate)
Place：Claska (Meguro)
When：13th
Time：2~5 PM
Instructor：Deanne
Price: ¥4000 members ¥5000 non-members (includes 3 hours of instruction and refreshments)
**SPECIAL Dance! Move! Play! price come to both Dance! Move! Play! workshops in the month of June and pay only ¥7000 (available to members and non-members)
This class will begin with a moving hoop meditation focusing on strength, balance and finding your beat in time with the hoop. This practice can be used daily for improved balance, strength and timing. This lead session can easily be taken away for your personal practice.
After finding our hoop center we will work through a series of sequences, bringing focus to dance, play and smooth transitions. Then it is your turn to connect some hoop dots and work on your own hoop sequences with guidance and support to extend, create and move more. You will leave this Dance! Move! Play! workshop feeling more confident, alive and in control of your hoop dance!
This is a 3 hour workshop and will include snacks and break time.

The 2 hour workshop is designed to provide you with the skills and tricks you need to Hoop Dance for fun and fitness.
The HOOPLOVERS Beginner's workshop will explore a variety of Hoop Dance skills, tricks and moves that you can take away and enjoy. Beginner's Hoop Dance workshops include a warm up, hoop conditioning, turns, skills and drills, hoop circle and warm down, each day. In addition to the basics you will also be supported to explore your natural hoop dance style.
No previous experience necessary.

Price: ¥4000 members ¥5000 non-members (includes 3 hours of instruction, practice poi and refreshments)
**SPECIAL Dance! Move! Play! price come to both Dance! Move! Play! workshops in the month of June and pay only ¥7000 (available to members and non-members)
A very special collaborative event has been created to support the cross pollination of these two beautiful flow arts - Poi and Hooping.
You will make your own practice poi (included in price) and learn basic flow techniques and foot work from one of Japan's most outstanding poi performers, Togo.
This workshop is open to hoop and poi dancers as well as beginners in either or both arts.
What is Poi?
"Poi is a performance art employing a ball or balls suspended from a length of flexible material held in the hand and swung in circular patterns. Poi originates from the traditional performing arts of the Māori people of New Zealand."

Who is Togo?
Togo, one of three members of the Japanese spin team POISM, is a fluid, experienced and powerful poi dancer. Often found practicing for hours on end or alongside his performance partner Yuta, Togo is a humble master of the art of poi.

Over the course of 2 hours you will learn not only how to keep your hoop spinning while you move and groove but you will also be supported to master fluid and mesmerizing on and off body moves.

These classes are designed to take your Hoop Dance to the next level. During Hoop Love classes you will be encouraged to explore your natural dance style. Enhancing body awareness and hoop control these classes will focus on dance transitions, dance sequences and fluid movement.
The intention of Hoop Love classes is to guide you towards embracing your inner dancer, allowing you to develop your personal style.
Hoop Love classes explore breaks, isolations, multi-level hooping, jumps, turns, angle hooping, reversals, stalling and more! During Hoop Love classes you will also have the opportunity to work on a range of tricks that suit your personal style.]
BIVIO Disco Hoop Dance
Every Tuesday 9:15pm -10pm
Every Sunday 5:35pm - 6:35pm
BIVIO Natural fitness center (ladies only) offer very reasonable day pass prices. Come to the center and enjoy a hoop dance class as well as full use of the machines and perhaps a hot yoga class, Zumba or any of the other amazing classes on the full schedule!
